Miu Miu used its Spring 2027 show in Paris to make an argument it has been building toward for a while, that the clothes people actually reach for every day deserve the same design attention as anything built for a red carpet. The collection, called Here and Now, staged on October 4 at the Palais d'Iena, ran on the idea that sportswear and tailoring no longer need to live in separate wardrobes, a point driven home when Olivia Colman walked the runway in a cracked black leather blazer over a navy V neck sweater, finished with a leather skirt cinched by a chain and grommet belt, a look built from pieces that would not feel out of place in an actual closet.
The philosophy behind the mix
Miuccia Prada has described the collection's premise plainly, that the reality of clothing today is a mix, sportswear, casual, normal, worn together rather than kept apart. The show put that idea into practice directly, pairing track pants with smart knitwear and tailored jackets, and giving simple gym knickers an upgraded, runway ready treatment. Sports bras reappeared throughout, reworked into sparkly tops that read more like party pieces than anything built for a workout, some styled on their own and others layered over clingy jersey tops.
Denim gets a rework
The collection's most literal nod to real clothes came through a collaboration with Wrangler, reworking vintage denim into low hanging jeans finished with fastenings that riffed on shoelaces rather than conventional buttons or belts. It is a small detail, but a telling one, taking a utilitarian closure from sneakers and sportswear and grafting it onto a denim silhouette, blurring the line between a gym bag staple and a pair of jeans meant to be taken seriously as fashion.
